Thanksgiving – Give your Kids the Greatest Gift – Gratitude!

When you stop to think about it, Thanksgiving really is the most important time of the year. How can a day that promotes gratitude and teaches humility be anything else? If there is a holiday that could be every day, this one would be it.
Unfortunately, it’s hard to count your blessings when you’re busy paying bills, running errands, going to work and raising children. The frenzy seems to double between October and December, as we set out to acquire new things designed to make the holidays cozier and sweeter. Our kids are watching. And if we’re not careful, they, too, will get wrapped up in the frenzy and forget to be thankful.
The truth is we’ve got to make time for gratitude. Otherwise, our kids will never learn to be grateful for the most important things in their lives, like family, friends, food and shelter. Shouldn’t we be doing this every day? Not just the third Thursday in November?
BabyAnywhere.com baby online store suggests we all put down our shopping lists and “To-Do” reminders, turn on some nice music, light a candle and get grateful! Snuggle your babies (they won’t be this little forever!), hug your children and talk with your friends and family! Enjoy the holidays for what they really are, not for what our televisions and catalogs tell us they’re supposed to be.
Make it fun for your kids by doing Thanksgiving crafts, singing songs like ‘Tis a Gift to be Simple and talking as a family about what you’re grateful for. Play “Things to be Grateful for Starting with A,” then, B, and so on. Get your kids to draw pictures of the people they are most thankful for and encourage older ones to think of all the things they love about younger siblings.
Enjoy your children and enjoy the holidays. Make every day Thanksgiving!
